After Fightful Select reported that Chad Gable’s WWE contract was expiring this past Friday, wrestling fans started speculating if the talented superstar would stay with WWE or part ways like Ricochet.
Despite the rumors, WWE booked Chad Gable in an Intercontinental Championship match against Sami Zayn at the Clash at the Castle PLE. The move made the fans speculate Gable had come to terms with WWE over an extension.
Along with Ricochet and Chad Gable, several other WWE contracts are reportedly reaching their end at this time, which allegedly prompted WWE to book many superstars on a per-appearance basis.
If Gable’s contract did expire last Friday, he must be among those superstars working under the per-appearance deal. Amidst all the speculations, PWInsider has reported that Chad Gable is close to or has already signed a new contract with WWE and that people in the company are working under the belief that Gable is staying with WWE.
The news relieved many WWE fans as former Intercontinental and United States Champion Ricochet decided not to renew his contract with WWE and had his final appearance on this week’s episode of Raw. With Ricochet’s exit, WWE fans feared the company might fail to renew Chad Gable’s WWE contract as well.
What’s Next For Chad Gable?
After failing in multiple attempts at defeating Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship, Chad Gable helped Sami Zayn accomplish the task at WrestleMania 40.
But he wasn’t satisfied with that and wanted the title for himself, which resulted in him turning heel after he failed to defeat Zayn for the title on the April 15, 2024, episode of Raw.
After coming short in taking the title away from Zayn in a triple-threat match at King and Queen of the Ring, Chad Gable secured a one-on-one match for the title at Clash at the Castle.
Gable’s heel turn has been one of the most entertaining storylines on Raw for the past few weeks, and it’s also helping his Alpha Academy partner Otis get over. All signs point towards Gable dethroning Sami Zayn at Scotland, and the fans might witness an entertaining title reign that might result in Otis and the rest of Alpha Academy turning on Gable in the coming days.
