According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio podcast AEW President Tony Khan is reportedly very mad with Jack Perry over costing CM Punk’s services to the company.
Following his bitter exit from WWE in 2014, CM Punk returned to in-ring action for All Elite Wrestling when he signed with the company back in 2021. However, his run with the company turned out to be a mixed bag due to injuries and backstage controversies.
After getting suspended over a backstage incident with The Elite at All Out 2022, Punk’s run with the company came to an end after he got into a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In 2023. Punk also allegedly got physical with Tony Khan during the incident, which resulted in the latter releasing CM Punk from his contract and suspending Jack Perry. Khan claimed that he feared for his life during the altercation and had to make the tough decision of letting Punk go.

According to Meltzer, Tony Khan is reportedly very angry with Jack Perry over losing CM Punk to WWE, which could be one of the reasons why Perry still hasn’t returned to AEW following his suspension in August 2023.
