Before they competed for the WWE Championship at Bash in Berlin, Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens received a message from Solo Sikoa. The New Bloodline leader and self-proclaimed Tribal Chief announced he would challenge whoever walks out of Berlin as the new WWE Champion.
Rhodes retained the championship against Owens at Berlin and will defend the title against Solo Sikoa, who he already defeated at SummerSlam. While fans expected the match to happen at WWE Bad Blood, recent reports suggest that the contest might not occur at the event.
Veteran pro wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio that the WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa is not on the cards for Bad Blood.
“From what I was told Cody and Solo are not scheduled for Bad Blood. I don’t know when that match is gonna be, they are obviously on Friday’s show going to set up a match.
“I have not been told this, it’s just my guess is that they may do it on the first (SmackDown) show on the USA Network (September 13).”
Will Roman Reigns Help Cody Rhodes One More Time?
While Roman Reigns did get the best out of The New Bloodline on the SmackDown after SummerSlam, he fell victim to the numbers game a week later, thanks to Jacob Fatu.
Cody Rhodes defeated Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam after Roman Reigns returned and attacked Sikoa, who had been masquerading as the new Tribal Chief.
With Solo Sikoa having Reigns outnumbered at the moment, it’s speculated that the Original Tribal Chief could return with some new and old allies as his reinforcement.
While WWE advertised Roman Reigns for the season premiere episode on September 13, the company removed him from the lineup later. But if Rhodes defends the title against Sikoa on SmackDown, as Meltzer stated, there is a chance that Reigns might make a surprise appearance and cost Solo Sikoa the WWE title again.
