During this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Kevin Owens was supposed to team up with a mystery partner to take on A-Town Down Under. While everyone knew Randy Orton would be the mystery partner, WWE did play with the fans by bringing in a new wrestler named Ricky as Owens’ ally.
After learning Randy Orton was in the arena, Kevin Owens promptly kicked Ricky out of the ring with a Stunner and went on to team with Orton to defeat Austin Theory & Grayson Waller.
Who Is Ricky?
Ricky is no stranger to professional wrestling and has been in the business for almost two decades. He is a highly decorated tag team wrestler on the independent circuit and is currently teaming with a wrestler named Eddie Pearl as Midnight Heat.
He works as Ricky Gibson on the independent circuit and has 20 title reigns to his name. Ricky started teaming with Eddie Pearl in 2017 when they were part of the 4 Minutes of Heat faction, and from there, the duo has held nine tag team championships.
Has He Competed In Other Major Promotions?
While Ricky almost made his in-ring debut for WWE on SmackDown, he has made a few appearances on other major promotions in the last two years.
He and Eddie Pearl made their All Elite Wrestling debuts on an episode of AEW Dark: Elevation in January 2023. They were also a part of an AEW Dark episode the same month and competed in a dark match on AEW Dynamite in May 2024.
They have also had two matches in Ring of Honor between May 2023 and February 2024.
