During the recent edition of the Six Feet Under podcast, WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker had tons of praises for the current reigning Intercontinental Champion Gunther.
While answering fan questions, The Undertaker heaped praises on “The Ring General” and even shared some insight about what would happen if he had the chance to get into the ring with him.
“I really like him,” Undertaker said. “I think the sky’s the limit for him. I think he’s a little bit of a throwback to a different era, but has the ability to work and tell stories. I mean he just had that match with Dom [Mysterio] which is tough, a heel versus a heel is a tough match when somebody doesn’t turn. He kept Dominik a heel and he kept himself a heel, and I’m really, really high on him. But, yeah, we would probably fistfight about two chops in.”

Gunther has held the Intercontinental Championship for over 640 days and has the record for the longest reign in history in both a single reign and cumulative days with the title. “The Ring General” had stellar matches against the likes of Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, and Chad Gable throughout his historic reign and is set to defend the title against Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 40.
Honestly, he’s done all there is to do with the Intercontinental Championship and it’s about time he moved into the world title picture, so don’t be surprised if he ends up losing to Sami Zayn at WrestleMania. It’s hard to get praise from legends like The Undertaker and having a believer in him says everything about Gunther’s future with WWE and as The Deadman mentioned, the sky is indeed the limit for The Ring General!
